Mentoring and Networking Events

We host mentoring and networking events at professional association meetings and conferences. As of March 2019, we have hosted nine successful mentoring events—reaching more than 400 emerging scholars—with partners including:

  • National Research Conference on Early Childhood (NRCEC)
  • National Council on Family Relations (NCFR)
  • Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) Latino Caucus
  • Population Association of America (PAA)

These events have generated discussions on shared research interests and ideas for collaborations, and provided professional development advice—including how to apply for graduate school, enter the job market, or launch a program of research. The events have also helped to strengthen partnering organizations by highlighting the importance of nurturing researchers who study Hispanics.
