Funding and Training Opportunities

Professional Development Grant for Emerging Scholars Studying Poverty, Economic Well-Being, and Early Care and Education Among Hispanic Children and Families

This grant program supports professional development activities for doctoral students and early career scholars whose research focuses on poverty, economic well-being, and early care and education among Hispanic children and families in households with low incomes. The Center will provide awards of up to $2,850 for professional development expenses or as seed funds to support research activities. In addition, grantees will have the opportunity to participate in professional development and networking events organized by the Center.

Fellowship Program for Research on Early Care and Education and Economic Well-being Among Hispanic Children and Families

The Center’s Fellowship Program provides early career scholars studying topics related to early care and education (ECE) and economic well-being among Hispanic children and families in households with low incomes the opportunity to participate in a 12-month program. The program provides seed research funds and valuable mentoring and professional development experiences.

National Research Center on Poverty and Economic Mobility Early-Career Mentoring Institute

The Center supports three poverty and social mobility scholars who are in the early stages of their research careers, have the potential for leadership in supporting members of populations that are underrepresented among academic researchers, and focus on Hispanic population research to attend a weeklong convening, in Davis, California, where they will receive mentoring and career development opportunities.

Mentoring and Networking Events

We host mentoring and networking events to facilitate discussions between emerging scholars and mentors on shared research interests, ideas for collaborations, and professional development.
