Center, Child Trends Submit Comment on Proposed Public Charge Ruling
The Center and Child Trends responded to a request for public comment on new rules proposed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding its proposal to define who is considered a “public charge”—the statutory term used for a person who is dependent on the government for subsistence—through regulation. A person designated a “public charge” can be denied admission to the United States or denied a change in their legal status. Read the full comment.
